Set atop a cliff on the southernmost tip of Bali, Karma Kandara overlooks a crescent of fine white sand that leads to a tranquil blue lagoon, where lush tropical gardens meet the sea. This stunning cove is internationally renowned as the place to be on Bali’s ‘Billionaire’s Row’, and it’s easy to see why!
Karma is a five-star boutique resort that blends traditional Balinese architecture with luxury amenities, and it’s this and the long list of thoughtful extras that make this boutique resort so special and inviting.
We stayed in a one bedroom private villa that was arranged around its own tropical courtyard and private pool. With sliding doors that open out to the courtyard and pool, and just a short walk away from sweeping views of the ocean, you’ll fall in love with the simultaneous cosmopolitan and sun-kissed beachfront lifestyle.
You can jump on a buggy or take a short stroll through some incredible stoned walkways and tropical gardens to the main section of the resort.
THE POOL
The resort had one of the most stunning infinity pools that overlooked the sea. It was shaped to curve around the cliff to take full advantage of the amazing view. This could really be the very pool that the infinity pool got its name from – it really does appear to flow right into the ocean and the horizon beyond.
THE BEACH CLUB
The Karma Beach Club is talked about all over the world – and when you get into the cable cart to take you to the private beach below you’ll understand why. This in itself is a lovely experience where you’ll be able to enjoy the view from a whole new perspective. Whether you’re swimming in the ocean or lounging in one of the cabanas for the day, there’s nothing not to love about this beautiful private beach!
THE SPA
Karma Spa’s team are experts in their fields and can help you relax and unwind like never before! The massages are done overlooking the sea, where you can ever so faintly hear the sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs that add to the tranquil atmosphere of the experience. The products used in the spa are Karma’s own, and are made in small batches with botanical ingredients derived from ethical and sustainable sources. They smell and feel amazing on the skin, and help to replenish it from the long days laying in the sun.
THE RESTAURANT
During our stay, we got to enjoy breakfast, lunch and a beautiful sunset dinner at one of the award winning onsite restaurants, Di Mare. The restaurant, like all of the key spaces at Karma, was in a prime location at the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean. The chefs used locally sourced ingredients, exotic flavours and classic cooking techniques, complimented by an extensive list of international wines.
THE GYM
For those looking for a bit more exercise than simply floating in the poo, there is a treehouse style gym which overlooks a jungle of tropical greenery. If every gym had a view as stunning as this I can’t even begin to tell you how fit I’d be!
For couples looking for a romantic getaway or friends or family looking for a relaxing retreat, Karma Kandara is a wonderful option! It’s a 30-minute drive from the airport and just under an hour from Seminyak, but when you get arrive at the grounds it will make you feel like you’re in your own piece of paradise!
