Tatcha is a clean skincare brand that has a number of cult-favourite products in its range. Tatcha takes inspiration from Japanese beauty routines, and every product balances timeless Japanese botanicals with proven clinical ingredients. The founder, Vicky Tsai, works with Japanese scientists to formulate all of Tatcha’s products in the Tatcha Institute in Tokyo. I was lucky enough to meet Vicky a few years ago in Sydney, and her story and passion was so inspiring!
Tatcha is big on formulating with ingredients that work with the skin, not against it. Inside every Tatcha formula is their signature Hadasei-3 complex, a blend of superfoods, amino acids, and AHAs. This proprietary complex of twice-fermented rice, green tea, and algae is rooted in the nutrient-dense Japanese diet, largely considered the healthiest in the world.
Tatcha products are amazing because they’re gentle yet effective; a hard balance to get right! What are the best Tatcha products? I’ve rounded up the Tatcha best products below.

Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream
A cult product from Tatcha is their Dewy Skin Cream, and it’s considered the best Tatcha moisturiser for dry skin. It’s rich and luxurious, and intensely hydrates the skin, leaving it with a healthy glow. It’s formulated with Tatcha’s signature Hadasei-3 blend of anti-ageing Japanese superfoods, green tea, rice and algae, which work to deliver essential nutrients for optimal skin health and youthful radiance. It contains Japanese purple rice bran, which is rich in antioxidants, along with Okinawa algae blend, which supports the production of hyaluronic acid and ceramides. I love using this Tatcha moisturizer as a night cream, but on winter days where my skin is feeling especially dry, I’ll use this as a day cream too. It leaves my skin feeling so plump and hydrated and it’s one of the best moisturisers for dry skin.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
Another Tatcha bestseller, this ultra-hydrating mist delivers immediate hydration and radiance. If you love a dewy finish to your skin, you need to try out this Tatcha mist! It’s one of the best Tatcha products for dry skin. Use it before makeup to give the skin the most amazing glow, or after makeup to get rid of any powdery finish. It can also be used throughout the day, over makeup or bare skin, to refresh the skin and add some hydration and a dewy finish.
The Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist is formulated with Japanese botanicals, and contains 20 percent botanical oils to leave the skin with a natural dewy finish. It also contains Okinawa red algae which helps to draw consistent moisture into the skin to prevent dehydration, along with Hadasei-3TM, an anti-ageing trio of green tea, algae and rice that restores the skin’s natural glow.
Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer
This Tatcha primer is one of the best primers I’ve ever used! It’s a cult favourite that instantly smooths the skin, filling in pores and fine lines and reducing unwanted skin texture. It creates a protective barrier between your makeup and your skin, and it really does help my makeup to last much longer throughout the day. Makeup also applies so smoothly over this Tatcha primer, and it helps to minimise excess shine.
The Tatcha Silk Canvas primer is formulated with silk extract to instantly diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines. It also contains pink and gold pearl to corrects uneven skin tone and blur discolouration, along with Tatcha’s signature superfood blend Hadasei-3TM. The Tatcha Silk Canvas primer comes in a liquid version too, but this original balm version is my favourite (sometimes the liquid version pills when I use it, but the balm version never does). A little bit goes a long way too, so this should last you a while!
Tatcha Water Cream
The Tatcha Water Cream is so lightweight on the skin, and it’s definitely the best Tatcha moisturizer for oily skin. If you love a barely-there moisturizer, you should definitely try the Water Cream! It releases a burst of hydrating nutrients and pore-refining botanicals to leave you with hydrated and balanced skin. This oil-free, vegan moisturiser is also loaded with Japanese superfoods.
I recommend the Tatcha Water Cream to so many people, and I think it’s one of the best moisturisers for oily and acne prone skin. It’s fast-absorbing and non-greasy and is formulated with some great ingredients like Japanese wild Rose (to visibly tighten pores and smooth skin texture) and Japanese leopard Lily (to control excess oil and smooth the skin by encouraging natural skin turnover). If you’re an oily skin type, the Water Cream is one of the best Tatcha products for oily skin.
Tatcha Rice Wash
The Tatcha Rice Wash is a cream cleanser that effectively cleanses the skin without stripping it, leaving you with a soft and luminous complexion. It harnesses the centuries-old Japanese practice of using rice as an essential ingredient in daily diet and beauty rituals. The leftover milky water after rinsing rice is known as the first wash of rice. It’s nutrient-rich and serves as a vital source of vitamins A, B2, B12, and E. It’s used by Japanese women for centuries in their beauty rituals, as it contains moisturizing proteins that soften and boost the luminosity of the skin and hair.
The Tatcha Rice Wash is widely considered the best Tatcha cleanser, and for a good reason. Like many of Tatcha’s products, the Rice Wash cream cleanser is formulated with the fermented antioxidant-rich Hadasei-3, which hydrates the skin, replenishing the skin barrier for a smoother complexion. It also contains a Japanese algae and hyaluronic acid blend that helps restore a healthy skin barrier to retain essential moisture.
Tatcha Essence
The Tatcha Essence was the first product I ever tried from the brand, and it’s still one of my favourite Tatcha products to date. An essence is a product that’s great to include in an effective skincare routine. It works to deeply hydrate and smooth the skin, making it more receptive to absorb any products that you apply afterwards, helping to boost the effects of your other skincare products.
Not only does this Tatcha essence resurface, soften, and plump the skin, it’s made of 100% Hadasei-3 (Tatcha’s signature trio of fermented Japanese superfoods), and is proven to make your skincare more effective. It’s powered by rice, green tea, algae, amino acids and AHAs (from lactic acid) and is a great addition to any skincare routine.
Tatcha Rice Polish
A good exfoliant is a must-have in any skincare routine, and this Tatcha exfoliator is one of my favourites. The Tatcha Rice Polish is a water-activated powder of nourishing Japanese rice bran and silk protein that transforms to a creamy foam to gently exfoliate the skin. This exfoliator reveals smoother and softer skin for a healthy looking glow. The Classic Rice Polish is perfect for normal to combination skin types, however Tatcha also makes a few other variations (like Gentle and Deep) for different skin types.
Rice bran and papaya enzymes work to dissolve dead skin cells as they gently exfoliate and refine the skin. Tatcha’s Hadasei-3 complex feeds the skin with nutrients, while Akoya Pearl polishes and conditions the skin, helping to reduce the look of fine lines. This Tatcha exfoliator is a great gentle exfoliant option, and can be used multiple times a week. It comes out in a fine powder, which is rubbed together in wet hands to create a creamy foam.
Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil
If you haven’t tried a cleansing oil before, here’s why you need a cleansing oil in your skincare routine. The Tatcha cleansing oil thoroughly cleanses skin whilst leaving it feeling silky smooth. It’s a 2-in-1 makeup remover and cleanser that easily melts away sunscreen and makeup to leave you with balanced and nourished skin. Unlike some other cleansing oils on the market, this Tatcha cleanser doesn’t leave an oily residue on the skin as it does not contain any mineral oil. It’s formulated with Japanese Camellia Oil, which is a great source of Vitamins A, B, D and E and nourishing Omegas 3, 6, and 9, along with Tatcha’s Hadasei-3™ Complex.
Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask
You know I love a good face mask, and this Tatcha one is an old favourite of mine! It’s a creamy vitamin C mask and is a great hydrating face mask. This Tatcha face mask contains two types of vitamin C and 10% AHAs to help improve skin texture and brighten the complexion. In just 15-20 minutes it this anti-ageing face mask that works to resurface and soften the skin. Along with two types of vitamin C, it’s formulated with Japanese beautyberry, a superfruit that’s rich in antioxidants to maximises the effect of vitamin C.
Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask
This rich jelly treatment of squalane and Japanese peach melts into the lips to intensely hydrate and lock in moisture. This Tatcha lip balm is an amazing lip balm to cure dry lips. It visibly plumps fine lines and replenishes dry lips with moisture. Formulated with Japanese peach extract, a traditional Japanese beauty secret, which helps to breathe life back into damaged lips. It also contains rose extracts, extracted with natural squalane to smooth lips and protect them from dryness, and Japanese camellia oil, a lightweight oil, rich in oleic acid and vitamins, to seal in moisture.
Tatcha Violet C Brightening Serum
If you’re not using a Vitamin C serum in your skincare routine already, you’re missing out! A good Vitamin C serum can do wonders for the skin. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that works to brighten the skin and even out skin tone. This Tatcha Vitamin C serum is an amazing Vitamin C serum for brighter skin. It has a blend of 20% vitamin C and 10% AHAs and helps to soften and smooth for more radiant skin. It’s a gentle serum with mild fruit AHAs that help to exfoliate the skin, Japanese angelica root that works to reduce the appearance of skin pigmentation.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask
An amazing hydrating face mask, this Tatcha sheet mask deeply nourishes and boosts skin radiance using a blend of hydrating botanical oils. As the name would suggest, this really does leave the skin looking plump and dewy. It contains Okinawa red algae to draw consistent moisture into the skin to prevent dehydration, along with Uji green tea, a powerful antioxidant that detoxifies skin and helps prevent signs of premature aging. Akita rice is rich in essential proteins and deeply nourishing, leaving the skin feeling soothed and hydrated with every use.
