YSL Saint Laurent Wallet On Chain Bag Review

The Saint Laurent Wallet on Chain bag is a classic and timeless handbag from the brand. It’s a style that’s so easy to wear, day or night, and goes with almost anything. It’s easy to see why it’s still one of Saint Laurent’s best selling bags.

The Saint Laurent Chain Wallet bag features the classic interlocked YSL initials on the front, a flap opening and snap fastening. It comes with a chain strap that’s removable, so you have the option of wearing it as a clutch. The YSL WOC bag is available in a range of materials and hardware options, which I talk more about below, but I have mine in Saint Laurent’s classic grained embossed leather.

YSL WOC bag sizes

The Saint Laurent WOC bag currently comes in a few variations. The YSL Cassandre Chain Wallet, YSL Cassandre Envelope Chain Wallet, and the YSL Uptown Chain Wallet. They are all similar sizes but have slightly different interiors. All styles feature a flap opening, snap fastening and a removable shoulder strap chain, so they can be used as a clutch or a bag.

The YSL Cassandre Chain Wallet is the biggest of the YSL WOC bags, and has ten card slots, two bill compartments, two central compartments and one zip coin pocket. This is the style I own and I love the size and usability. The YSL Cassandre Envelope Chain Wallet has six card slots inside the bag, one bill slot, one main compartment and one zip coin pocket. The YSL Uptown Chain Wallet has a separate card case that has three card slots.

Is the YSL Wallet on Chain worth the money?

And now for the question you’ve probably been wondering, is the YSL WOC bag worth it? The YSL wallet bag is such a staple piece in my collection and one of the best designer bags to invest in. The price point makes it a great starter designer bag, and it’s a luxury bag I always recommend to people who are buying their first designer bag as it’s such a timeless and very wearable bag. It’s one of the best designer crossbody bags to invest in, and the removable strap makes it perfect to use as an evening clutch too.

YSL’s grained embossed leather is also so durable and easy to clean, and consequently, it’s a bag that wears well over time. I’ve had mine for over 5 years and it still looks great! The style and size means it’s a bag that’s great to use during the day as a crossbody bag, or in the evening as an evening bag or clutch. It’s a very versatile bag that goes with pretty much anything! Overall, the Saint Laurent Wallet on Chain bag is a great piece to have in your collection, and for me, it’s definitely been worth the price.

YSL WOC bag Leathers and Materials

The Saint Laurent WOC bag comes in a range of different leathers and materials including Saint Laurent’s classic Poudre Embossed Leather, along with Metallized leather, patent leather, smooth leather and crocodile. I mention why I love the embossed leather above, but I’d definitely recommend going with embossed leather finish if you want a durable bag that’s easy to keep clean.

In terms of hardware options, the Saint Laurent Chain Wallet bags are most commonly available with silver, gold, or black metal hardware. I’ve heard that the black metal hardware doesn’t wear as well as the silver or gold hardware options, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind. I bought my Saint Laurent WOC bag with the silver hardware, but I also have the YSL Kate bag (review here) with the gold hardware, and both have worn well over time.
