With Spring Racing Carnival just around the corner, its time to make sure you have your makeup essentials covered so you can stay looking polished from the morning to evening. Glowing skin has never been more of a focus, so we’ve put together a how-to and list of must-have products you need to get your glow on this Spring Carnival. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out The Races, an online destination for horse racing’s who, what and wear. Newly launched, the site encompasses the fashion, lifestyle and social side of racing and contains some amazing beauty hacks and tips and tricks for getting yourself races ready.
First up, prime the skin with Marc Jacobs Undercover Perfecting Coconut Primer. This will create a smooth base for your foundation and help it to last throughout the day, along with providing hydration to the skin. As you’ll probably be getting some sun during the day the day, reach for a foundation with SPF like the La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Transforming Cream spf 30. This foundation is great as it combines the benefits of skincare, colour, and sun protection in one.
Apply Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat under the eyes, to the centre of the forehead and bridge of the nose to highlight the face and blend with a damp Beauty Blender. For a concealer that will eliminate any blemishes and dark circles on the face without creasing throughout the day, apply MAC Pro Longwear Concealer to under the eyes and any areas where more coverage is needed. Set the face with Lancome Absolue Sublime Radiance Smoothing Loose Powder. This will help to keep all your work so far in place, whilst also adding a nice radiance to the skin as this powder is infused with 24K gold particles to diffuse light.
Shape and fill in the brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil and set in place with Benefit Clear Brow Gel. This will add some texture to the brows as well as ensuring they stay put. As a base to help eye makeup stay in place and intensify the eye shadow, apply Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Eyeshadow in ‘Mirage’ over the eyelid. For eye shadow, the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow palette contains a beautiful range of warm browns and bronze colours that have great pigmentation and wear well throughout the day. This palette is perfect for creating either a natural look or a bronze smoky eye. Line the top lash line with Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. This gel liner is pigmented and so easy to apply with an angled brush.
Coat lashes with two coats of MAC InstaCurl Lash mascara. This mascara has a customisable curved brush that will add curl, volume and length to lashes. Apply Artémes Beautiful Fools eyelashes to really open up the eyes and easily intensify the look.
Go in with Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder to add some colour and definition to the face. Apply under the cheekbones and to the temples of the face for a healthy, sunk-kissed glow. Next, add a touch of colour to the cheeks with Chanel Joues Contraste Blush, applied on the apples of the cheeks. To get that beautiful, glowing skin apply Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed on top of the cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow and inner corner of the eyes. This creamy, luminising powder highlighter gives skin a beautiful glow with a lustrous finish.
Apply MAC Prep + Prime Lip to the lips to add light moisture and smooth the lips. This lip primer gives lipstick a really smooth base whilst helping to stop any feathering. To define lips and help the lipstick last longer, apply MAC Boldly Bare Lip Pencil all over the lips. When choosing a lipstick that will need to last you through the day, stay away from anything sheer or overly creamy as this will move over time and you will constantly have to re apply. We love MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick for a lip that goes with anything and will last though all the champagne and canapés. Finish off your look with MAC Fix + Spray, a lightweight mist that delivers a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup.
