Osaka is such a beautiful city with so much to see and do. Don’t miss these must-see sights when you’re planning your next trip to Japan!
Osaka Castle
A stop by Osaka Castle and walk around the grounds is definitely not to be missed when you’re visiting Osaka. The castle was rebuilt in 1931 and inside you’ll find a museum about the castle’s rich history. Make your way to the observatory for some panoramic views of the area.
Shitennoji Temple
One of the oldest temples in Japan, the Shitennoji Temple was the first to be built by the state. A beautiful five-story pagoda can be found within the large complex. The Gokuraku-jodo Garden is just a short walk away and is definitely worth a walk through.
Dotonbori
Talk a night time stroll through Dotonbori for an abundance of restaurants, bars and arcades. An alleyway of note is Hozenji Yokocho, located next to Dotonbori street, which has an old school Edo era feel to it and many shops and cafes.
Hiroshima & Miyajima
Whilst not in Osaka city, if you have the time Hiroshima & Miyajima are definitely worth a day trip from Osaka. Take a walk through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and then make your way to the island of Miyajima. Miyajima is famous for its Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, a large torii gate, which appears to float on the water at high tide.
Umeda Sky Building
For a wonderful 360-degree view of the city make your way to the observation platform at the Umeda Sky Building. The “Floating Garden Observatory” is a bridge that connects the two towers on the 39th floor. In the basement of the building you’ll find an abundance of restaurants made to look like those from the early Showa Period.
