What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag

A much-requested look into my travel makeup bag! These are some of my go-to, tried and tested makeup products that I pack with me almost every time I travel.

Whilst there are some full-size items in my travel makeup bag, I definitely try and pick up travel-size versions of products when I can (I talk about some of my favourite travel-size makeup products in my post on my must-have travel beauty products).

 

Makeup Packing Tips

There area few things I always keep in mind when packing my travel makeup bag:

– Pack wind up eyeliners, brow pencils and lipliners so you don’t have to pack a sharpener.

– Pack double-ended makeup brushes to save space.

– Buy travel-size products where you can (there’s almost always a good selection near the cashier at Sephora or Mecca Maxima stores). If you’re packing full-size products make sure the packaging isn’t too heavy.

– I try and avoid packing foundations that come in glass bottles. They’re heavy and there’s more chance they might break. The Dior Backstage foundation and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer are two of my favourite base products and they both come in plastic packaging so they’re easy to travel with.

– Choose your makeup bag wisely. Whilst I definitely like makeup bags that look pretty, it also needs to be functional, practical and the right size for what you need to take. I love this one from The Daily Edited. It’s a good size, it’s sturdy so my products don’t get squashed if I check my luggage, easy to clean, it’s clear so I can see exactly where everything is, and it has two compartments so my brushes can lie flat and not get damaged.

– Multi-use products are your friend when travelling. I pack a bronzer I can also use as eyeshadow and creamy lipsticks I can also use as blush if I want the option.

– Pack products you know you love. Best to save experimenting with new products for when you’re back at home!
