The Ordinary base their products around active ingredients, so you won’t see long ingredient lists full of fancy ingredients that just aren’t necessary in skincare. The Ordinary focuses on simple ingredients that work. Additionally, The Ordinary is part of the Deciem group of brands, which contains various other cosmetic brands that already research into innovative and functional skincare. The success of Deciem provided the funds and knowledge base to research into the idea of The Ordinary and make it come to life.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
If you’ve heard of The Ordinary before, you’ve probably heard about their Hyaluronic Acid serum – it’s a best seller with a cult following. I talk about this serum in my post on the 9 Best Hyaluronic Acid Serums For Hydrated, Plump Skin.
If you have dry skin, Hyaluronic Acid will be your skin’s best friend! It’s a powerful humectant that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Because the molecular size of Hyaluronic Acid determines its depth of delivery in the skin, this serum is formulated with low, medium and high-molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid at a combined concentration of 2% for multi-depth hydration. It’s also formulated with Vitamin B5 which helps to enhance surface hydration. SHOP HERE
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Another product from The Ordinary with a cult following is their Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum. Often named one of the best The Ordinary products, this is a great serum for oily or acne-prone skin. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is mixed with Zinc to help balance the formula, helps to rebalance sebum production, leaving you with clearer, less congested skin.
Note: It’s recommended not to use this at the same time as your Vitamin C serum as Niacinamide can affect integrity of the Vitamin C. Ideally use Vitamin C in the PM and this serum in the AM. SHOP HERE
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
You’ve probably seen this serum around on Instagram and TikTok- it looks like you’re doing an at-home blood facial. It contains a mix of Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) to deeply exfoliate the skin and clear up congestion, dead skin, and hyperpigmentation. It’s a serum that’s packed full of active ingredients, formulated with 30% AHAs (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry.
AHAs exfoliate the surface of the skin for a brighter and more even appearance, whilst BHAs also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This Peeling Solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight blemishes and improve skin radiance with its combined 32% AHA/BHA solution. With continued use, the formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Next on my list of the best The Ordinary products is a moisturiser. Natural Moisturizing Factors are elements that keep the outer layer of the skin hydrated and protected. This moisturiser contains 11 amino acids, phospholipids, alpha/beta/gamma fatty acids, triglycerides, sterols and sterol esters, glycerin, ceramide precursors, urea, saccharides, sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid. It’s lightweight and quickly absorbs into the skin so it won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. SHOP HERE
THE ORDINARY “BUFFET” MULTI-TECHNOLOGY PEPTIDE SERUM
The Ordinary Buffet Serum contains a wide variety of ingredients that all work together to help target visible signs of ageing (hence the name). This formula combines an array of studied technologies to target multiple signs of ageing all at once. The technologies include a number of peptide complexes and a Probiotic complex, all in a base of 11 skin-friendly amino acids and multiple hyaluronic acid complexes. SHOP HERE
The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion
Often named one of the best The Ordinary serums, this formulation combines two forms of next-generation retinoid actives, a 2% concentration of Granactive Retinoid and a sustained-delivery form of pure retinol in a protective capsule system which supports both the delivery and the effect of Granactive Retinoid.
The forms of retinoid used in this serum avoid the irritation that can be associated with retinol use, while delivering better visible results against signs of ageing. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
For a face exfoliant, I generally opt for a chemical exfoliant. Chemical exfoliants are much gentler on the skin than physical exfoliants like your typical face scrubs. This toner contains Glycolic Acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. Using a mild exfoliant will help to improve skin radiance and texture over time, so I always have an exfoliant as part of my skincare routine. This toner is formulated with Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use, along with ginseng root and aloe vera for both visible radiance and soothing benefits. The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
Squalane is an ingredient that you’ve probably seen popping up in a lot of skincare lately. It’s an amazing hydrator that is found naturally in the skin. It has humectant properties and very high emollience, so it’s fast-absorbing and leaves the skin looking plumper and more hydrated. Although Squalene is traditionally derived from animals, this serum is derived by plants. The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
In the same way your morning coffee is an instant pick-me-up, topical caffeine is a great pick-me-up for tired skin. This Caffeine Solution helps to reduce under-eye puffiness and dark circles whilst being lightweight and fast-absorbing. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque
This is a great mask for when my skin has a few of those annoying breakouts! It leaves my skin brighter and smoother without being overly stripping or irritating. This mask is formulated with charcoal and clay and aims to enhance the appearance of smoothness and clarity, leaving the skin feeling refreshed. If you’re after an affordable, gentle cleanser that gives the skin a good clean, look no further! It’s also formulated to remove makeup as it turns into an oil-like consistency. Just rub a small amount between your palms for around 10 seconds and it will change from a balm-like consistency to a clear oil-like consistency.
