Whilst oily skin types can be hard to manage at times, using the right skincare to help counteract oils and decongest the skin makes a world of difference! Cleansing day and night is the first step in any skincare routine, and using the right cleanser for your skin type is crucial. Tried and tested, we’ve narrowed down a list of some of the best cleansers for oily skin below.
If you haven’t already seen our round up of the best face masks for oily skin (you definitely need one or two face masks in your skincare routine!), read it here.
Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser: Clay formulas are such a great option for oily skin types. Water-soluble Kaolin and Green clays are combined with the purifying extracts of Sambucus, ivy and lemon to help remove excess oils and refine the skin’s texture. This cleanser also contains cucumber and sage to soothe the skin, and menthol to revitalise and refresh.
Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser: Formulated with Amazonian White Clay and Diatomaceous Earth particles, this Kiehl’s cleanser works to remove oil, dirt and toxins from the skin and help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.
Douglas Pereira Clinical Skin Therapy Clean & Enzyme: If you’re based in Sydney, you need to pay Douglas a visit – along with his skincare line, his facials are amazing! This cleanser lathers to provide a gentle exfoliation for a brighter, clearer complexion, whilst allowing active ingredients to penetrate effectively. It’s packed with fruit enzymes and citric acid to help loosen dead skin cells, and colloidal silver to help maintain the skin’s protective barrier.
Murad Clarifying Cleanser: This cleanser is particularly great for acne prone skin, as encapsulated salicylic acid provides a sustained release of medication for hours of acne treatment, even after rinsing. Clarifying Cleanser’s rich lather strips away dirt, oil and irritants which can clog the skin.
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Foaming Cleanser: This foaming cleanser purifies and detoxifies the skin of impurities and environmental pollutants. Sugarcane helps support natural cell turnover, leading to softer and more radiant skin.
Cosmedix Benefit Clean Cleanser: This is a great cleanser for all skin types, and is a good option for someone that finds foaming and clay cleansers too drying for their skin. This Cosmedix cleanser uses the active ingredients Herbal Amaranth, a herb-derived protein packed with amino acids to prevent moisture loss, and D-Glucuronolactone, the basic building block of hylaronic acid and chondrotin sulfate.
Jurlique Clarifying Deep Cleansing Gel: This refreshing cleansing gel contains natural botanical microspheres of Jojoba esters derived from Jojoba Oil to gently exfoliate the skin, removing impurities that can clog pores. Botanicals including Nettle, Yarrow and Witch Hazel help to purify and tone the sin, while Lemon Balm, Spilanthes and Rosemary help to rebalance oiliness in the skin.
