Where To Stay In Paris

Paris, a city that’s probably on everyone’s travel bucket list, and for good reason! Paris is a beautiful city with so many things to see and do (and lots of amazing French food to eat!). If you’re travelling to Paris for the first time, it can be a bit overwhelming when choosing a place to stay as there’s so many options. Do you stay walking distance to most of the attractions you want to see, or stay a bit further out but close to a Metro station?

There are a number of great neighbourhoods in Paris that are worth a look into and all have unique offerings (be sure to stay within the main 20 arrondissements though), but a great place to stay in Paris, especially for first-time visitors, is close to the Arc de Triomphe.

I recently went to Paris for my fourth time and stayed at the beautiful Hotel Balmoral Paris, located on a quiet street 100 metres from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées (a prime location!). Hotel Balmoral gives off all kinds of charming Parisian vibes – it’s situated in a typical Haussman-style building dating from the 19th century with beautiful wrought-iron balconies, and has been completely renovated in 2014 by Interior Design Architect Michel Jouannet.

Located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, you can take a 15 minute walk down the Champs-Élysées to Trocadero, a great place to get some beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower (go early in the morning to avoid the crowds). You’ll also be close to a Metro station, Charles de Gaulle Étoile, if you don’t feel like walking that day or for those times when you want to explore the other arrondissements.

I personally love to walk everywhere I can when I travel (you see a lot more than you do if you catch the Metro everywhere), and from the Arc de Triomphe you can walk 25 minutes to the Eiffel Tower, 50 minutes up to Montmartre where the Sacré-Cœur is (also just a beautiful spot to visit in general – there are lots of cute shops and cafes around), 30 minutes to Pont Alexandre III and 45 minutes to the Louvre. All are beautiful places that are definitely worth a visit!

The epitome of Parisian elegance, Hotel Balmoral has 50 elegant Bedrooms and Suites as well as Prestige Apartments.  It’s definitely worth booking a room or suite with a balcony to enjoy your morning coffee on. The rooms are large and bright with elegant, refined décor and custom-made furniture that has been created by well-known French artisans.

The Champs-Élysées is a must-visit spot for fashion and luxury lovers, and I loved being just minutes walk away when staying at Hotel Balmoral. Although the hotel is so close to some of the main attractions in Paris, it’s situated on a peaceful street (between the renowned avenues Carnot and MacMahon) so you get to enjoy some peace and quiet on your balcony whilst being in the heart of Paris.

Nothing beats starting a morning in Paris with breakfast on your own Parisian balcony, coffee in hand. Hotel Balmoral serves a seriously good buffet breakfast, which you can get either delivered to your room, or enjoy in their breakfast room, which opens onto a garden courtyard. Everything is fresh and there’s a vast choice of pastries, bread, cheese, eggs, charcuterie, fruit, crepes… the list goes on!

I hope this post helped give you some insight into one of my favourite areas and hotels in Paris. If you have any questions about some of my favourite spots in Paris, or want to see some of what I got up to, connect with me on Instagram!
